Women for MACC Contributes $90,000 to the MACC Fund, Approves Change in By-Laws
Women for MACC hosted it’s Annual Winter General Meeting on Wednesday, December 7 at The Boelter Superstore. General Meetings Chair, Tanya Bissen welcomed our guests, thanked our host, Boelter Superstore and introduced President, Lindsay Schweikert. Lindsay presented a check for $90,000 to the MACC Fund’s Executive Director, John Cary, Chief Operating Officer Becky Pinter, and Development Officer, Mike Bielawski; who warm heartedly accepted the donation to fund pediatric cancer and blood disorder research. The donation brings Women for MACC’s total contribution to $140,000 for this calendar year.
The energy of the evening was perfect for kicking off the theme for the holiday season; that of hope, gratitude and passion for the mission of Women for MACC. John Cary shared his appreciation for Women and MACC stating “You take the time to care and be part of this gift of hope. We want to thank you for your accomplishments and pride in all that you do. Research makes a difference.”
Our President, Lindsay Schweikert echoed those sentiments by sharing her story of how she got involved with Women for MACC. Having worn many hats in the organization, from a committee member to several board positions, Lindsay confidently leads Women for MACC in her 2nd year term as President. “I couldn’t be more proud to be standing here as President. I am proud to be a part of The MACC Fund and Women for MACC.” Lindsay shared the impact that the organization has provided, raising over $4.5 million over the past 36 years to the MACC Fund.
Members and guests also heard from valued board Members Dayle Bugalski – Social Media Chair, and Dawn Graham – Cancer Center Liaison. Dayle shared her touching story and the journey her family faced with their son Gavin, a childhood cancer survivor. “Without the MACC Fund, volunteering, research and efforts of Women for MACC, my son wouldn’t be here. I can’t put into words how much it means to me – so thank you!” Dayle also expressed the important role that research plays and the hope it provides to families facing this terrible disease.
Dawn Graham echoed Dayle’s remarks, debuting a fashionable shirt with an “anchor” representing that of “hope.” Dawn provided an update for Pasta Fest, held at Serb Hall, March 5, 2017.
The night continued with proposed membership changes from Alicia Buttchen – Membership Recruitment Chair and proposed changes to By Laws presented by Stacey Meyer – By Laws Chair. A motion to approve these changes, along with a vote from the membership – all approved.
The night concluded with holiday cooking tips and demonstration from Angela Salazar. Special thanks to both Cathy Boelter and Angela Salazar of Boelter Superstore for welcoming Women for MACC and for their support and generosity.
